Sponsorships for Teachers in Sri Lanka: Education and Hope for Underprivileged Communities

Since 2010, the people helping people foundation and the STEPS of forgiveness e.V. have been working together to provide education and healthcare to children from disadvantaged families in Sri Lanka. In many villages, they offer remedial classes attended by 30 to 100 children. For every 20 to 30 children, a teacher is needed, supported with a modest salary starting at 30 euros.

The organizations assist underprivileged women who have completed training and can teach children, providing them with a small income starting at 30 euros. Currently, these women receive between 50 and 100 euros to support their families.

With the support of loyal friends, their work has expanded. They are currently active in over 75 villages, helping more than 100 underprivileged women earn an income.

Sponsorships for teachers are an effective way to achieve a lot with limited resources. Every contribution can help improve the lives of children and families in disadvantaged communities. Through sponsorships, more children can be reached and more women can be supported.
