Fostering Peace and Unity through Children Festivals in Sri Lanka

Since 2010, our organization has been organizing Children festivals in Sri Lanka with the aim of bringing the nation together and raising awareness about reconciliation and peace. In a country where Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Burghers, Veddas, and other diverse communities coexist, fostering peace and harmony is crucial to ensure a prosperous and united future.

To promote peace among these communities, we focus on empowering people through education and other forms of support for their livelihoods. In over 75 villages and cities, we are dedicated to supporting children in need by providing them with free education, school supplies, and essential resources for their health and well-being.

Our Children festivals serve as a platform to bring together children from different backgrounds, including those studying in our free education centers, at our peace center called “Lanka Learning Center.” Through a series of programs, we aim to raise awareness among children about the importance of peace, unity, and non-violent communication.

The impact of these initiatives has been profound. Our non-violent communication program has helped many individuals to transform their mindsets and embrace peaceful ways of resolving conflicts. During our last event, we were delighted to host over 2600 children from various parts of Sri Lanka who came together to enjoy a day filled with joy, learning, and friendship.

Since 2010, we have witnessed firsthand how activities like the Children festivals have contributed to the growth of peace within our nation.
